Celebrating over 100 years of football in Cessnock

1907

Fifteen sportsmen meet near the Cessnock railway station to form the first soccer team. Many were recent arrivals from Minmi, West Wallsend, Greta, and Stockton.

1922

The Hornets officially adopt their name and colours. Early matches are played near Aberdare Park.

1977

Premiers of the NNSW Division Two — the first of multiple titles in the late 20th century.

1986–1988

Back-to-back champions and premiers. The Hornets dominate Northern League One.

2007

Centenary celebrated with the release of 100 Years of Soccer Football 1907–2007 — a full club history book.

2025

Hornets compete in NNSW State League Division 1 with squads across all junior and senior grades.
